最近讀到一首美國詩人Robert Frost的詩

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

這是首很有名的詩,很多人都喜歡這首。有不少譯本出現, 但我覺得都翻的不好。 我覺得最後一句很有意思,就像我曾經感嘆過的,世界上有許許多多不同的生活方式,不同的國家種族和性別,而我們僅僅選擇其中一種方式。造就了所有人的不同之處。而你,終究是無法回到當初選擇的那點。 不見得需要遺憾,因為這就是不同所在。這裡有Robert Frost親口朗誦的檔案。此外,他也是一位業餘天文學家,極度熱愛星空,有一本關於天文的詩集。
